Biography
This rule-breaking band began their career by sneaking into their manager’s grounds and setting up a full PA without invitation. It was clear these guys were never going to go unheard. Their energetic and edgy live performances have gained them a reputation as electrifying. The Wholls’ live shows make punk rock look like a picnic – performed with an energy and enthusiasm rivaled by nobody. 2016 saw The Wholls performing all the key UK festivals culminating in BBC Radio 1 choosing the band to represent the ‘best of’ Reading Festival where The Wholls dominated the BBC Introducing stage to rave reviews. After their appearance at Leeds Festival the following day the band flew out to Germany to play a sold-out show at Headcrash for their appearance at Reeperbahn Festival. Over 200 people were turned away after queuing round the block to get in, but those who managed to squeeze in – including Sony Music – witnessed an unforgettable performance. The Wholls signed a licensing deal with Sony in November 2016. The Wholls completed their first European tour supporting ‘Royal Republic’ March 2017 playing to crowds of up to 3,000. Sony released the band’s first 2 singles in Germany (Feb-March) and the debut album was released in May, supported by a 4 week residency in Sage Club which by the final week was described by the band as feeling like “a hometown gig” with a totally packed out club of fans all singing their songs.
