Biography

They’re three friends whose adventures in rock ‘n’ roll have earned them a Radio 1 Track of the Week as well as festival slots at Reading & Leeds, The Isle of Wight and The Great Escape. Meet The Scruff. Mixing punk-fuelled energy with indie-pop bangers and detours into more tender territory, the Bedford trio are set to propel themselves to the next level as they prepare for the release of their debut album in 2020. The Scruff possess the natural chemistry of what a band should be: the last gang in town and friends to the end, young men with a telepathic ability to finish each other sentences. They take their craft seriously, but their daily conversation is pure banter. The Scruff’s ambitions are both simple (to make the band their full-time pursuit) and huge (Sam: “I want to be a positive influence on as many people as possible”), but Jack captures it the best. “If your job is playing music with your best friends, you’ve done alright.” With lyrics that explore the everyday issues that young people face across the country, and songs which find mainstream appeal in modern guitar music, The Scruff’s potential is limitless.
