Biography

You can also find Bella singing in the LA based band Another Bummer. Having trouble staying in one place for too long proves to be a reoccurring theme in Bella’s life, moving from LA to Seattle, Seattle to Vermont, and Vermont back to LA all in just one year. This trouble is tangible on her debut album, Luck of the Draw, when she closes its opener, “Far Gone”, with the line, “disguise all of my goodbyes, and in the morning I'll be gone”. But her ephemeral plight appears to transcend geography on tracks like “Cynicism”, which could easily take off right where “Far Gone” left off as she sings, “Was it wise to believe that my sweetness would last?” This is only one of Luck of the Draw’s many lyrical themes that pieced together create something closer to a fully formed human than album. Though clearly carved from the same sonic wood as Sharon Van Etten and Adrianne Lenker, Bella shapes her own sound with lush harmonies and warm reverb. The result is a sparse, honest record, with both singing and songwriting at their best.
