Biography
Pretty Sister was born in Los Angeles on the northbound 405 freeway in a 1968 Buick LeSabre, with “More Bounce to the Ounce” playing hazily in the background. Today, that same old-school nostalgia smothers the artist/songwriter/producer’s genre-bending sound, which shamelessly melds ’70s West Coast funk with an appreciation for a commercial pop hook. Pretty Sister has been featured on dance hits from Nause smash “Dynamite” (100M+ Spotify streams) to Madeon classic “The City.” Simultaneously, his “Z-Funk” sound has been making waves with his cover of “Pony”—a viral hit—as well as multiple HypeMachine #1s and Spotify success with tracks like “Come to LA” and “Thirsty.” But beyond any stats, the most impressive thing about Pretty Sister might be his versatility, as he writes, produces and sings everything himself, serving as a self-contained triple threat and bringing a 3am dance party with him everywhere he goes—and in everything he writes. Welcome to the Z-Funk era.
