Biography

After testing to see if Johnny Walker whiskey would taste good mixed with red wine, Daniel Humphreys, and Leon Smith decided that whiskey didn't go with red wine at all. They wrote a song about it anyways, and from that moment on a tradition was born. They were to get together every Sunday, drink, and write music. They called themselves Sunday Afternoon. Sunday Afternoon is a family band, Smith being Humphreys uncle. They discovered their musical chemistry after Smith bought a drum kit on a whim, and experimented with writing lyrics. Humphreys had been playing guitar and singing for years but hadn't taken songwriting seriously until then. Many weeks passed, and many songs were written. It was then that Humphreys wanted to take music seriously and moved to London, Ontario to study Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College. He was taught by Canadian legends such as Moe Berg of, "The Pursuit of Happiness", Mike Roth, who wrote the song, "Your Daddy Don't Know" for the hit 80's band Toronto, and Dan Brodbeck who would often work with the late, great Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries. Shortly after graduating, Covid-19 swept the world, locking people in their homes. The duo took this opportunity to work on their music, produced by Humphreys, with lyrics from Smith. Their take on the Indie/Alternative genre is guaranteed to leave you wanting more.
