Biography
Hailing from Missouri City, an area located within Houston, Texas, Monaleo came into the rap game swinging. Only 20 years of age, Monaleo has already captivated listeners, fans, and artists worldwide. Her 2021 viral hit track, "Beating Down Yo Block", a post-breakup anthem which reworked the 1999 Houston staple “Knockin Pictures Off the Wall” by Yungstar, garnered Monaleo massive acclaim and solidified her as one of the top rising artists of today--with Pitchfork calling her rap games “Ascending Princess.” The accompanying visual is an homage to her true Houston heritage. In 2021, Monaleo followed up with “Girls Outside”, which further displayed her versatility as a rapper, singer, and songwriter. Monaleo has also gained a role model and feminist hero reputation since her arrival on the music scene. An advocate for Mental Health, Monaleo faced her own struggles with depression and social anxiety. She consistently promotes wellness and finds new ways to connect with her peers on a meaningful level. Monaleo showcases this vulnerability but also confidence and empowering feminist sentiments in her work. Monaleo is unapologetically feminine, with her signature color being pink. Through her music and presence, Monaleo has proven that femininity is indeed powerful and a quality that everyone should embrace.
