Biography
Rapper Big Boss Vette is known for audacious rhymes over-rowdy productions. Previously known as Yvette, the St. Louis native built a following through social media before scoring viral hits as an independent artist with 2019's "Bad Bitch" and 2020's "Outside." A subsequent label deal has yielded similarly uninhibited singles such as 2022's "Snatched" and "Pretty Girls Walk." Diamond Smith started rapping in high school. The morning after she uploaded her version of DeJ Loaf's 2014 hit "Try Me," she discovered she had gone viral, encouraging her to build on the momentum with more uploads. Progressing with original material, she once again went viral in 2019 with "Bad Bitch" and did it again the next year with "Outside." Signed jointly to Amigo Records and Beatstaz with a Republic Records licensing deal, Smith changed her stage name from Yvette to Big Boss Vette and made her label debut in 2021 with "Eater," followed by "Big Boss Vette." Vette's singles the next year were highlighted by "Snatched" (accompanied by a remix featuring Flo Milli and Saucy Santana) and "Pretty Girls Walk." A remix of "Pretty Girls Walk" enhanced by Coi Leray was Vette's first release of 2023. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
