Biography
Australian Indie Folk duo, Freight Train Foxes, are built around the talents of Brisbane singer/songwriters, Pat Kenny and Kelsey Berrington. Armed with the sonic influences of Passenger and Stu Larsen, the pair wield their unique brand of suburban acoustic folk that manages to both wound and soothe simultaneously. ‘They have an amazing ability to pull at the heartstrings and make you feel ‘happy/sad’. And I feel like that’s the current mood people are going through.’ - Nkechi Anele (Triple J) Emerging from Brisbane’s open mic scene in 2019, the duo has continued to draw the attention of the music industry. Freight Train Foxes have been finalists at the Queensland Music Awards for two consecutive years, with their single ‘Fly to You’ landing them their latest nomination at the 2023 awards ceremony. After releasing four EPs and amassing over 1.4 million streams on Spotify, the Indie Folk duo continue to impress audiences with stirring performances throughout Australia, including shows at Groundwater Country Music Festival and Tamworth Country Music Festival. Pat was an Army Officer before making an abrupt switch to songwriting, while Kelsey had a background as a circus performer before taking up music full-time. The songwriting partnership emerged from a chance encounter at an open mic, and has continued to develop out of a mutual admiration for their shared songwriting heroes.
