Biography
North London MC Dabbla cut his teeth at legendary pirate radio stations Freeze FM and Rinse, before forming the prolific crews London Zoo (w/ Sumgii, Frosty, Pierre Green, Cobes and Rocksta), Dead Players (w/ Jam Baxter and GhostTown), and Problem Child (w/ Sumgii, Dubbledge and Penghui’s Illaman). Now cultivating “hybrid rap” at Potent Funk Records, Dabbla blows apart genres with a mic. His first solo LP Year of the Monkey landed on High Focus in 2016 and led to Dabbla being headhunted by Romesh Ranganathan to create exclusive music for his US TV series, Just Another Immigrant. Dabbla’s second instalment Death Moves was released two years later via Potent Funk, and spawned hefty singles such as ‘Tweeters’ with Rag N Bone Man. Then last year, Dabbla and label co-founder Sumgii dropped their joint album Nobody - “a collection of wide-ranging sounds that explored the full gamut of UK rap and hip-hop” (Trench). He returns to stage with ‛Alec Baldwin’ and a whole string of singles in 2022.
