Biography

Born and raised in San Jose, California, Rohith Jayaraman is a vocalist, composer, and vocal percussionist known for his soulful voice, speed, precision, and infectious energy. Trained in Carnatic music under his mother and guru, Asha Ramesh (a disciple of D. K. Jayaraman), Rohith has gone on to explore the world of experimental crossover music. As a performer, Rohith has shared the stage with internationally acclaimed and award-winning artists such as A.R. Rahman, Tigran Hamasyan, Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan, Vijay Prakash, and Ranjit Barot. He has studied under and been mentored by some of the greats of Carnatic music including R. K. Shriramkumar and Suguna Varadachari. A proud alum of Berklee College of Music, Rohith has stayed on with the college as the Associate Director of the Berklee India Exchange (BIX), co-directing and touring with the Berklee Indian Ensemble.
