Biography
FAUN combines medieval and ancient instruments with modern influences to create an enchanting and powerful atmosphere. Founded in 2002 in Munich, the band is comprised today of Oliver Satyr (vocals, keyfiddles, celtic harp, bouzouki), Laura Fella (vocals), Adaya (vocals, pandora, bagpipes, flutes, celtic harp), Stephan Groth (hurdy-gurdy, cister, vocals), Rüdiger Maul (percussion, drums) and Niel Mitra (programming, sampler, synthesizer). Until now FAUN played more than 1000 concerts worldwide, including cultural concerts in churches and theaters, but also powerful festival shows at folk, gothic and metal festivals. The band made its recording debut in 2002 with „Zaubersprüche“ (2002), followed by „Licht“ (2003), „Renaissance“ (2005), and „Totem“ (2007). In 2008 the band released its first live album, „Faun & the Pagan Folk Festival“ (2008). An entirely acoustic album, „Buch der Balladen“, appeared in 2009 followed in 2011 by „Eden“. In 2013, FAUN signed with Universal Music and released their seventh studio album, „Von den Elben“. It was awarded with a platinum award, nominated for two „Echo“ awards and reached the Top 10 of the German album charts. In 2014 FAUN released their their very successful, night themed album „Luna“ and „Midgard“, a journey to the north featuring Einar Selvik/Wardruna in 2016. After their first Best Of Album in 2018 FAUN was following the path into the realm of old fairytales with their album „Märchen & Mythen“ in 2019.
