Biography
Beginning as a folk-loving acoustic trio that blended original songs with uniquely personal covers, Slim & The Beast has grown into a full-fledged indie pop act soaked in Bee Gees-esque vocals and modern production. Rich in catchy hooks and vocal harmonies, twin brothers Aaron Lopez-Barrantes & Samuél Lopez-Barrantes join Aurelien Amzallag to combine their love of 60's songwriting, 70’s rock, and modern electronic music inspired by Phoenix, Parcels, Beck and Andy Shauf. The band's latest batch of songs comes at a time when the world needs it most, blending their love for adventure, live performance, and joyful melodies with roots in everything from RNB to Electro to classic folk rock. The band has worked with a host of Paris-based producers and remixers, including Jules Jaconelli, Yan Goro (Gush), Thomas Laverhne (Pampa Folks), Irfane (Breakbot), Myd, and Aedan (C2C), resulting in a catalogue of songs that combines a pure, vintage sound with a distinctly modern edge. Inspired by the optimism of disco, funk and soul, their third EP "Billie" is a departure from the band’s folk roots to make way for a more cosmic, psychedelic sound. From exploring the possibility of life in distant galaxies in “Better” to peering through a window to see into a lover’s world in “Her Room,” the songs on Slim & The Beast’s third EP transform nostalgia into the hope of possibility, a recognition that even in this brave new masked world, song and dance can still bring us together!
