Biography

A recording artist and star of Broadway with a crisp, powerful voice and wide vocal range, Jessica Vosk got a delayed start in show business, taking a job on Wall Street before eventually working her way up to a leading role in Broadway's Wicked in 2018. Her first album, Wild and Free, arrived the same year. A native of Clinton, New Jersey, Vosk's father was in a band and started her singing as a child. She went on to study musical theater at The Hartt School in Connecticut, but transferred to Montclair State University, earning a degree in communications and public relations instead. After working at a firm on Wall Street for a few years, she decided to try auditioning for musical theater roles, her true passion. In 2009, she was cast as a vocalist in Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' Kristina, a live concert performed at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. In 2014, at the age of 30, Vosk made her Broadway debut as an understudy and swing on The Bridges of Madison County before originating the supporting role of Miss Bassett in Finding Neverland. The latter opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater in April 2015. She left that production five months later to play Fruma-Sarah in the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof, which began previews that November. In September of 2016, Vosk began a year-long run as Elphaba on a national tour of Wicked. She took over the part in the Broadway production at the Gershwin Theatre in July of 2018, just a few months prior to the show's 15-year anniversary. In August 2018, Jessica Vosk made her solo recording debut with Wild and Free, a mix of show tunes and pop covers, including songs by Prince, Sia, and Sara Bareilles. Produced by Michael Croiter (Alan Cumming, Anika Larsen) and Robbie Rozelle, and co-produced by Vosk and Mary-Mitchell Campbell, the Broadway Records release reached number 12 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
