Melodic rapper Charlie Mase hails from Essex. Inspired by his Nigerian heritage, his sound infuses afro-swing with soulful R&B to create a powerful and eclectic mélange set to send the UK hip-hop scene into whirlwind. Rapping throughout his youth and refining his sound at school. Inspired by two decades of groundbreaking R&B and hip-hop between the 90s and 00s, names such as Usher, P Diddy, Ja Rule, Donnell Jones and 50 Cent inspired Mase’s transcendence into music. The UK scene has notably influenced Charlie Mase’s sound with artists ranging from Giggs, So Solid Crew and Craig David leaving a lasting impression. By carefully and gradually cementing his place within the scene, Mase has become known for his genre-bending, addictive melodies and memorable hooks. Charlie Mase has been working with a selection of producers including WHOELSEBUTJUELZ, Dami Bones, ATG, JT and MoneyMikes. Mase has collaborated with the likes of north-west London rapper Knucks, whom he performed alongside at Feat Magazine’s second talent showcase this year. 2017 single release ‘Smoke It Loud’ premiered on GRM Daily and was spun on Capital Xtra by DJ Montana. The single found much acclaim reaching over 90,000 plays on Spotify. Mase received a feature on American entertainment blog Karen Civil where he was included in a UK edition playlist, as well as appearing on renowned hip-hop DJ Tim Westwood’s crib session with PBGR. He has also performed for SPOTLIGHT’s first artist showcase.
