Biography
"Ik weet het nog heel goed, ik was een jaar of acht". No need to worry, I won't put thát amount of text here, let alone in Dutch. Welcome to my Spotify and thank you for reading my biography. My name is Timo de Jong, I'm a musician from Meppel, although nowadays I live in the lovely town of Leeuwarden. I started making music when I was about 16 years old, together with a friend we formed a band inspired by mutual interests and you can already guess what type of music we played: Grindcore. These were my first steps in the live music scene and I loved nearly every second of it. A few years later and some long hairs fewer, I picked up an acoustic guitar and started writing songs almost instantly. Not good songs, but songs nonetheless! I formed a band with a schoolfriend and we did even more gigs. This was more folk-bluegrass-americana-country oriented and I also played the banjo and mandolin. After a while I wanted to venture out with a solo career and so, in january of 2014, I played my first solo gig. After that, as we say here in the Netherlands, the fence was off the dam! (We have lots of weird sayings..) I live for playing live and over the years I have done more than 700 performances, ranging from small livingroom concerts to Eurosonic and almost everything in between. I want my music to be honest and true. My inspirations change through time, though you could say I write music that has a firm base in the 50s and 60s. You've made it this far, thank you for reading!
