Biography
Dutch singer and songwriter Douwe Bob was born Douwe Bob Posthuma in Amsterdam on December 12, 1992. The son of Simon Posthuma of the designer group the Fool, he began playing piano at the age of six and picked up the guitar at the age of 14. Taking it easy is not applicable for this walking collection of contradictions. Douwe Bob is too much of a daredevil, cocktailshaker, bohemian, romantic, melancholic, party animal, poet, rock 'n' roller, charmer, night owl, sailor, poker player, style icon, city boy, and nature lover, all united in one person. The debut album, Born in a Storm, was released in 2013. His latest single, "This World Is Our Home," produced by Gordon Groothedde, is about feeling at home on this Earth, with your friends, and being grounded in the present. Finding happiness in this world and with the people you love. After the rootsy Americana album "Born To Win Born To Lose" (2021), he is back with a true pop-record. Douwe Bob won "De Beste Singer-Songwriter van Nederland" (The Best Singer-Songwriter of the Netherlands), represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been honoured with three Edison Awards. This autumn, he celebrates his 10th anniversary and will appear on the tv-program "De Beste Zangers" (The Best Singers). In late 2023, a new documentary will be released, following up on the IDFA documentary "Whatever Forever" (2013) 10 years later.
