    Biography

    I started singing at age 9, made a solemn promise to myself that I would grow up to be a famous pop star. When I was still in College my dreams were answered and I won a nationwide talent search called 'Popstars' which formed the band 'Viva' that I would be a part of. After that I never looked back. Performing, songwriting and making music and music videos was a passion since a very young age. Even with the death of non film music my heart ached to do more than just film music where I found success and popularity. I have sung in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi films. I have won many awards including 2 Filmfare awards and multiple nominations across all languages. But my fans also love my unplugged music specially Punjabi Folk music that Sameer Uddin and I have revived in India. My purpose in music is one, to express myself authentically through my music and release music that has no shelf life, to feel my music in every bone of my body and hope my audience feels the same way. My dream to record an English album is yet to be fulfilled but I see it in the near future. As an artiste I do not limit my sound, genre or ambition. Sky is the limit
