Biography
With over 3,5 million collective streams on Spotify to date, Deep as Ocean is a modern band from Italy, whose music can be best described as a blend of nu and melodic metalcore. Based in Milan, DaO has been working industriously to cement its place in the world music panorama since 2016, when the band was co-founded by two brothers, guitarist Alberto and drummer Riccardo Buttò. Their band was joined by vocalist Matt Bonfanti, bassist Matteo Acquati, and second guitarist Andrea Fabro. In 2016, DAO released its first EP “Lost Hopes | Broken Mirrors”. At the end of 2018, DAO got back to the studio to work on new material, including the song “The Sinking Ship” and its music video. 2019 kicked off with two new releases, “Hourglass” (feat. Matt Gelsomino from Novelists) and "Oblivion,” which gained over 20k streams in a couple of weeks. In October, “Knives and Flames” and its official video was out and included in Spotify’s playlist “New Core.” DaO’s debut album "Crossing Parallels" was launched on December 13th. In 2020, DaO’s ballad “Black Rose” was released in 8d version, achieving resounding success on digital platforms. Two more songs, “Harakiri” and “Death Whistle”, have contributed to foster DaO’s notoriety in the new metal scene. Both songs, alongside “Blood Eagle” and “Second Circle,” will be included in the new upcoming “Chronicles” (April 2022). This concept EP collects songs inspired by literary poems and folk traditions about life, death, and the afterlife.
