Biography
Raised in Cronulla and born to a first-generation Greek mother and an Aussie father, Adam Newling utilises country sensibilities and eclectic knowledge of sound in his music to unprecedented effect. Adam Newling’s EP, Half Cut and Dangerous, has seen the gruff-voiced Australian songwriter and guitarist notch up more than 3 million Spotify streams. Newling sold out all shows of his national tour in April 2022. He was then invited to join Amy Shark on her sold-out tour, and joined SKEGSS for their North American Tour in November 2022. “Sweetness”, the lead single from Half Cut and Dangerous, was voted in at #98 in triple j's Hottest 100 of 2021. And has also received 110,000+ Shazams. Newling made Half Cut and Dangerous with his long-time collaborators, Tas Wilson (bass), Keva Wilson (keys/vocals), and Patrick Rogers (drums); both Ruby Fields and Skegss’ Benny Reed make guest appearances. “I explore the doldrums of life,” says Newling. “Living with a dream of sharing my insecurities through songs and poetry with anyone that happens to be on a similar voyage.” Adam also received a number #1 ARIA award for his work on Ruby Fields’ album “Been Doin’ It For A Bit”, beating out the likes of Lil Nas X and Drake.
