Biography

Indie pop meets coastal rock, with a warm splash of lo fi and lyrics that run deep. Alt Fiction is the sound of your winding road trip, of your poolside BBQ, of healing from a break-up, of healing from a bender. Back from pandemic hiatus with a golden new earworm, ‘Yesterday’, this charismatic Gold Coast trio is about to pop.
It’s been a while since ‘Yesterday’ was written in a caravan by the coast, its cruising chords laid down in one afternoon of inspiration, and lyrics hashed out over a sunset walk to the lighthouse, beers in hand. A song which references the power of nostalgia has become steeped in it, written as a comment on love, loss and memory, it’s now a window into a simpler time.
“It’s about understanding what goes up in a relationship must come down,” says singer and guitarist Will Tyler. “About remembering the best times to help you through the worst, and coming to grips with the fact that no relationship can stay perfect.” Made by the water and best enjoyed in it, ‘Yesterday’ soaks into you fast; by the second chorus you’ll be singing along like you wrote the thing.
And there’s plenty more where that came from. Working with a synergy that comes from shared genes and a shared dream, the Alt Fiction brothers are sitting on a heap of music and stinging to play it live. It’ll be memories in the making with these guys – be there for it.
