Biography

Ross Newhouse is a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter who writes sensitive and sensual songs with a gloss of sophistication and understated romance. In his songs, collegiate folk is adorned with serene, atmospheric production, evoking the opulent imagery and clever lyricism of Paul Simon and Andy Shauf. At twenty-nine, Newhouse has taken stage at notable venues including Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene’s Grocery and Townhouse Venice. He has supported artists such as James Spaite, Miette Hope, and Harris. Following the viral Tik Tok single “Holy Ghost” about the experience of an ex finding religion in light of a breakup, Newhouse’s debut full-length “Avonlea”, explores the juxtaposition between the disorienting vastness of freedom and the boundless intimacy of love. Written during the COVID-19 pandemic, the ten songs chronicle failed attempts at romance, reflections on past selves, and a dive into the heart to come to terms with the fear of committing yourself to a new love. Co-produced by Kevin Dye (Gates, Vasudeva, Owel), the record coalesces meticulous performances with free-flowing sonic ambience that showcases the world at large and how small you can feel in it. New releases include an acoustic performance EP from the Wild Hunt Sessions of “Holy Ghost”, “Light off the Lake” and “Pretty Red Train"
