Biography
When Sign's frontman Ragnar Zolberg was 6 years old he walked into a guitar school in Iceland with a guitar case in his hand, dragging it on the floor because of his short height, dressed in ripped jeans and a leather jacket he asked for guitar lessons, something that would play a huge roll in his life. 2001 saw Sign's first album "Vindar og Breytingar". In 2002, Sign were already playing all the major schools, clubs and events around Reykjavik. In 2005 Sign worked with Mark Plati and guitar legend Earl Slick (John Lennon, David Bowie) on their first international effort "Thank God For Silence". Between 2005-2007 they toured in Europe with The Answer, Wednesday 13 and The Wildhearts and gained a reputation as a thrilling live act. Rock critics praised the band as potentially "the next big thing from Scandinavia" and they were featured on compilation albums "Higher Voltage" and "Maiden Heaven". The ladder, a tribute to Iron Maiden also featured Metallica, Machine Head & Avenged Sevenfold. "Maiden Heaven" got Sign a gold record at the 2009 kerrang! awards. In 2010, Ragnar moved to Sweden where he played guitar with the established progressive band Pain of Salvation. Work on a new Sign album started in Germany in 2010, produced by The Resetti Brothers but in early 2013 Sign announced that they would finish the album with metal-guru Daniel Bergstrand. In December 2013 Sign released their fifth album "Hermd" their heaviest and most matured effort to date.
