Biography

Mary Carewe’s varied work as a studio singer has led her to sing for artists such as Elton John, STEPS and Joe Cocker, film composers Danny Elfman, Alan Menken and Hans Zimmer and for numerous TV and radio shows and jingles. As a vocal contractor projects include Nicholas Brittel's score for Disney's CRUELLA, Yusuf 'Cat Stevens' TEA FOR THE TILLERMAN 2 andITVs VERA . As a concert performer she has travelled the world and appeared as a soloist at such iconic venues as The Royal Albert Hall, London, Carnegie Hall, New York and The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. Her singing career began in her teens. She had several releases with pop bands and was often asked to sing backing vocals on others. Her reputation as one of the most flexible and technically proficient singers around grew and for many years she was not only a regular off-stage singer in West End shows (Cats, Starlight Express, Grease, Saturday Night Fever) but also her voice became a feature of UK TV entertainment productions, dramas and comedy shows.
The Delta Airways commercial ‘Synchronised Flying’ composed by Karl Jenkins led to many classical chart topping CDs as part of Adiemus - and the distinctive vocal sound created by vocalist Miriam Stockley with Mary has become iconic. She also sang the Autoglass jingle, which drove the British public crazy for many years! Her solo recordings of pop, film and theatre repertoire that can be browsed here.
