Biography
Kimosabe is a self-taught singer-songwriter, composer, producer, audio engineer, and label head hailing from the Eastern Cape, South Africa. His musical style is rooted in Soul and R&B with influences from different genres scattered across his discography. Aside from being a seasoned producer/composer, he is also an engaging lyricist with a penchant for writing interesting concepts and intricate melodies for himself and other musicians. Because of his ability to adapt to virtually any genre of music in varying capacities, be it as a lead vocalist, writer, or composer, Kimosabe’s unique and versatile style has allowed him to crossover into different markets, especially through his many collaborations. Born and raised in the Eastern Cape, Kimosabe was not necessarily born into a musical family, though he does cite his father as having had a strong musical influence on him and his siblings’ musical tastes; introducing them to the world of Soul and R&B music à la Ray Charles, Erykah Badu, Bill Withers, Jaheim, Mary J Blige, Justin Timberlake, and Simply Red, to name just a few. At age 13, Kimosabe and his brother ByLwansta would convert an unused room in their home into a make-shift recording studio where the pair would begin to hone their writing and musical skills as emcees.
