Biography

Osaka Punch has forged a reputation as one of Australia’s most wildly entertaining live acts. The group’s distinctive fusion of catchy grooves, jazz chops and a rock ethos sets them apart from most heavy acts, and allows an element of humour and satire in an otherwise very serious scene. Reviewers have been keen to emphasise the crowd-captivating live antics of both the outfit and its charismatic and ceaselessly energetic front man Jack ‘Muzak’ Venables. The release of their second album, 2016's Death Monster Super Squad, caught the attention of prog rock fans and bands alike, leading to the band spending countless weeks on the road, alongside the likes of Sunk Loto, The Living Colour, Twelve Foot Ninja, The Butterfly Effect, Mammal, COG and Voyager. In 2019, the beginnings of the follow up album began to take shape, with the release of Hall Of Shame and QMA-nominated track Drones, before the planet shut down for a well-earned break. In 2023 Osaka Punch re-emerged, firstly with The Crimpology Tour, and now with new single Simulate and the announcement of Album #3 - MIXED APE - to be released Mon 4 Sep 2023
