Ooh eeh Eeh eeeh Ooh ooh ooh Nena, nena, nena What is the way forward? Kamba, kamba, kamba What is the way forward? Tell me, tell me, tell me What is the way forward? Tell me, tell me, tell me What is the way forward? Malawi my mother Where does your pain, poverty, hunger and insecurity come from? Tell me mama Maybe it's what Louis Donaldson said Politics without principles Worship without sacrifice Is it science without humanity? Commerce without morality Knowledge without courage Pleasure without conscious And of course wealth without work My fellow Malawians this year marks 51 years since independence And we find ourselves in that familiar spot Where we have to do some stall taking Let's look back at how far we have come from and where we are going Looking around at our people today Looking at all this poverty around us Do we have anything to brag about? Do we find anything to smile about? no So i will begin by quoting the immortalness Mandela who said "Poverty is not an accident like slavery and apartheid" "It is a man made calamity and it can be removed by the actions of human beings and caused" My dear country men Our generation finds itself in the course a countries history Zili ndi ife kuti tikonze dziko ili We can either make or break this country The decision is ours to make And to do that, what this country needs is a revolution It is time we held our leaders accountable It is time we stopped our leaders from taking this country down the drain The genesis of our poverty a trait for our to promise things which are not practical We need plagiarism in this country Which is why as a country we have too many subsistence that do not make sense And which cannot be sustained by our economy As a country we have become warfare state Way back someone introduced a free hospital But that hospital does not have medicine Someone came and introduced free primary education He removed his children from that primary school and send them to private school And let the poor peoples children Have the most degrading The most depleted The most, most devalued education system you can think about A few years later someone came with a fertilizer substance What did he do? It made the budget so solemn To a point a lot of commodities, basic commodities became unbearably expensive Then they came another person Who started building in the village And that same system continues today Someone wants to give cement and malata Are we serious? We're giving five houses to a village of a 1,000 people Instead of fixing one borehole that will be giving water to a 1,000 people Show me the list of your priority How do you think? Have you ever been in the village? Growing up in the village a man with worked so hard so that he could harvest enough to send his children to school Enough to build a house and enough to take his family to a clinic when they're sick Koma boma likatimangira nyumba Ndikumatipatsa feteleza Ndimatipatsa malata ndi cement waulere Choona chake anthufe What will be a motivation to work? What will make a man work so hard in his field to build a house And what will make the other people have strength to work hard when others are having free cement and malata? Malawians are naturally hard workers All they need is a good environment to prosper They do not need handouts Give me no money, give me an opportunity to make money Don't give me a gun for security, give me an environment that's peaceful Don't give me a handout Just stop stealing my tax pay as money What our leaders need to do is to give our people the means to build houses and sustain themselves Instead of telling our people into a warfare case And the problem is of politics The problem is when leaders are not thinking of transforming this country But they're thinking of the next election,, that's all they think about And all they demand is that the people entrusted in running the country on their behalf should put our taxes to goodness But after every election we keep on betraying our people Misusing the taxes with reckless abandon We have evenly getmised government safety Making it sound normal And once again it's all because of the politics I pray for the day when the government restore being the main client of business in Malawi So much so that everyone is forced to align themselves with partying power in order to get business This is indecent I lorn for the day when government will revert to it's status of ensuring that this country is secure That our people are fed and clothed That our children are given access to education and health care That there is good road for a farmer to take his produce to the market And that there is equitable justice for all citizens no matter how poor or rich they are No matter race or creed No matter color of their skin But this country will always look at a colour of this eye and not a colour of this But as a country do we have a plan? Where do you want to be in the next 50 years? What is Malawian dream who can tell me? What is our dream what is our plan to have achieve the dream? Surely not cement and malata Surely not one family one cow And surely not free fertilizer To do that when we need to transformer to British As a country we need a blue print to guide us towards the future And not just every president dragging us along towards their desire to pass We need to take charge of our destiny What happened to continuity? Every president wants to start a new project And another one will stop and abandon that project and start another project How long are we going to be like this? And today we are being called the number one poor country in the world Do you sit and smile for that? We have water, we have fertile land What is it that we want? God has given us everything He has given us power, energy What are we waiting for? We are busy selling property, selling banks All that we know is selling Selling planes hehehe you sell a plane and buy maize Nena, nena, nena What is the way forward? Kamba, kamba, kamba What is the way forward? Tell me, tell me, tell me What is the way forward? Tell me, tell me, tell me What is the way forward? Nena, nena, nena What is the way forward? Kamba, kamba, kamba What is the way forward? (Tell me, tell me, tell me) (What is the way forward?)
