Biography
Born in a small village outside Edinburgh, Nina's musical education was a long, constantly evolving one. Fully immersed in chart pop thanks to her Swedish mother, that was then mixed later with the more outre leanings of her father. Nina Nesbitt’s critically lauded second album, ‘The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change’, raised the bar for the singer, songwriter and producer as she emerged from a rising prospect to an artist with a global reputation. Nina Nesbitt is set to take her continuing rising star status to the next level with her new album ‘Älskar’. Made in the shadow of the introspection, loss and fear of lockdown, ‘Älskar’ celebrates life in all of its complexities as well as love in every form imaginable. ‘Älskar’ (meaning “to love” in Swedish, a reflection of Nina’s half-Swedish heritage) shimmers with both tender, intimate ballads and huge escapist ‘80s-tinged bangers that beg for the dancefloor. “’Älskar’ is about love in all its raw forms, whether that be my relationship, family, friends, or learning to love myself. I really like the dynamics of the album. It has that Swedish feel to it, as I got to work with a lot of my idols from the pop scene there. But it also has a Scottish element too - the storytelling and the folk - which influenced the other half of it.”
