Biography
2014 seemed like an average year for Jake Newton and Steven Solomon. Jake was bartending at a local music venue while putting all his spare energy into his own artist career. Steve was trying to find his footing in writing and producing music for other artists. The two met on a blind writing session, wrote "The Wreck Of Our Hearts," and thus began a lifelong friendship and a new musical adventure. With influences ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Chvrches to Jimmy Eat World, Sleeping Wolf has crafted a sound altogether novel and vibrant. Their first EP was released in August of 2015, and just a few years and EPs later, they have garnered over 40M total streams, and their songs have been placed in TV and movies such as The Vampire Diaries and You’re Not You, as well as ads and sporting events across the globe. Jake and Steve’s passion for music is evident in their evocative lyrics, it's no wonder their songs resonate deeply with so many people of so many backgrounds. At the top of 2020 the band penned a moving concept album titled Greyscale, based largely on journal entries of both Jake and Steve. The album is a vivid tale, chronicling the journey out of a mental breakdown. Finishing the album just a few short weeks before the worldwide shutdown due to covid-19, they had no idea how much the songs would mirror the collective emotions many people are experiencing during this global crisis. Look out for the new album, Greyscale, dropping September 18th via AntiFragile Music.
