Biography
The Stylus Method are: Jordan Frazer - vocals, guitar, piano, polka-dots; Jamie Farnell - vocals, bass, multi-instrumentalist, suspected magician; Sam Winstanley - vocals, guitar, harmonica, archaeologist; Oliver Wells - vocals, drums, percussion, hats. Formed in Leeds in 2018 by songwriting duo Jordan and Jamie, The Stylus Method present a collection of catchy and conceptual rock and pop, evoking 60s sensibilities at every turn. Original drummer Steve Thomas joined in late 2019 and Sam in early 2020. Debut EP, ‘Ready To Roll’ was shortly followed by the pandemic, producing the appropriately-titled album ‘Telephone Voices’ (May 2021). This period also began collaborations with artist Sophie Panteli - the psychedelic animation for ‘Sugar Plum Mary’. Following debut performances in Leeds and singles ‘Part Of The Furniture’ (December 2021) and ‘Mad’ (April 2022), Steve Thomas left the group. In search of a drummer, Jamie called on old friend Oliver Wells. Summer 2022. Studio No.2, Abbey Road: over 25 hours, The Stylus Method laid the foundations of a second album and single ‘Lazy Susan’ (4th November 2022). ‘The Imaginary Costume Party’ (25th November 2022), a 51-minute odyssey of characters whose paths cross on their escapes from linear constraints of time and expectation, is their proudest achievement to date. With a new single and video set for release and UK tour in March, 2023 looks like an exciting year for The Stylus Method.
