Biography

Emerging from the shadowy realms of Newcastle, Australia, Soyboy has put themselves on the map with a unique blend of post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop. The group has been described as “bombastic showlords”, and the “grandchildren of the B-52’s and Talking Heads”, with a genre-bending sound coined as “nerd-rock”. Their musical journey begun in 2021 with their debut single, “Inebriate”, followed by 2022 releases such as their debut EP, “Supplements” and “Deceptacon”, a cover of Le Tigre. The 5-piece consisting of William Middleton’s lead guitar and vocals, Jade Gallogly’s bass and vocals, Zack John’s saxophone, Tristan Deeg’s synthesizers and Cupar Ross’s drums come together under the stylised sound of the talented Sydney-based producer James Vermeesch.
