Biography
Lucy Sugerman is not afraid to tell it like it is. Her sixth sense for storytelling coupled with a gift for crafting assured melodic hooks is a recipe for sweet pop that can still pack a punch. Youthful and addictive energy perpetuates Lucy’s music and presence at every turn, even in her most vulnerable moments. But while she’s only 21 years old, the self-managed Canberra artist possesses an impressive work ethic and dedication to staying honest to her art and herself - letting people into her world through relatable tales of her struggles and triumphs in growing up, cathartically capturing the spirit in learning from your own experiences. This year, Lucy won triple j Unearthed’s Groovin the Moo competition to perform at the festival, was named a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist, and opened shows for the likes of Charley and George Alice. Her versatility is evident from 2022 alone - co-writing and releasing ‘Headache’ with Thomas Porter (Dew Process), a tongue-in-cheek upbeat pop gem about an awkward dating exchange, garnering Spotify NMF, Pop n’ Fresh, softly and *hits different* playlisting, and duetting with AYA YVES on ‘Feels Alright’, a soft acoustic ballad written by Alex Lahey and Bri Clark.
