Biography
Maybe you didn’t know that the inhabitants of the mushroom-filled forests of Lithuania produce some of the finest psychedelic rock pop on Earth, but now you know. Garbanotas are a long-haired guitar band bringing songs, chords and love to audiences all over Europe since 2012. Somewhere between Supergrass, The Stone Roses and The Big Lebowski, their sound drifts around the best parts of the sixties, seventies and eighties, floats through hippy California and adds some Baltic ballad sprinkles to help trigger deeper, darker parts of the brain. The soaring vocals stay in a high register to keep your head closer to the sky while you listen. To create their magical repertoire, Garbanotas respect authentic oldskool production techniques by shutting themselves in an attic on the outskirts of town. There they rehearse and record, surrounded by the neighbourhood where they grew up together. They call their studio John AK, but they insist this has nothing to do with weapons. These people are lovers, not fighters. As they say themselves, Garbanotas put lots of effects on their music, but also on your life. Layers of overdrive, reverb and delay convert their instruments into transportation devices, carrying you to another world, another time, placing you on the set of a movie you can’t remember seeing. When you press play and fall into the same dream as Garbanotas, you won’t want to wake up.
