Biography

Artcell was formed around November of 1999 by Lincoln, Shaju, Ershad & Cezanne who were friends from their high school days. it all started with practicing some Metallica covers. The first song the band composed was 'Onno shomoy'. The song set the standard for all the songs yet to come along the way. The first song released by Artcell was 'Odekha Shorgo' which got released in a mixed album called "Charpotro" from G-series. The song 'Onno shomoy' was written by Rumman Ahmed and 'Odekha Shorgo' by Rupok. Both Rumman and Rupok were very close friends of the band members; and together they wrote most of the songs for Artcell. But unfortunately, Rupok, passed away after being infected by the fatal disease called 'Cerebral Malaria' on 2002. Rupok left when the band was working on their first solo album 'Onno Shomoy', which was later released and was dedicated to Rupok on 2002. And after four years of releasing 'Onno Shomoy', Artcell came up with their second album ' Oniket Prantor' on 2006. After that due to some personal issues Shaju & Cezanne left for overseas and Ershad left the Band. Lincoln in the meanwhile continued the band in live performances with guest artists. Finally in 2018, Kazi Faisal Ahmed joined Artcell as Lead Guitarist. Shaju came back from Sydney in 2020 and the band got it's life back. Finally with the help of their long time friend/mentor Iqbal Asif Jewel, they finally finished their Third Studio Album 'Otritio' which took 17 years from their second album.
