Biography
Formed when vocalist Charlie Noordewier and guitarist Ben Andrew were in secondary school, The Native first took shape in classes for GCSE Music. Jamming in practice rooms instead of doing their coursework, the pair eventually turned those initial ideas into a dreamy folk-facing EP that was released in February 2018. When offers of live shows started rolling a few months later, they recruited bassist Tom Booth alongside Harry Youngs on keys. Their line-up has also evolved with the addition of Fergus Segrove on drums. The band went from strength to strength last year joining Bastille on their UK/EU arena tour. They made their TV debut on Soccer AM in August amid playing at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters and Isle of Wight. This year they return with multiple UK/EU festival dates, a five-date EU headline tour and their new single ‘Tramlines’ which has already received radio play from John Kennedy (Radio X) and Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio 1). ‘Tramlines is beautifully emotional, it’s Indie, it’s everything I need in my life right now.’ - Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio 1) ‘The Native's work has transformed them into one of the country's most sought after new groups.’ - CLASH ‘Blindside propels the band's distinctive guitar notions into the faces of those wanting to discover the next big thing.’ - EARMILK
