She balances traditional and contemporary styles and takes inspiration where she finds it. Sigrid Moldestad is a proud caretaker of Norwegian folk music but does not hesitate to bring novelty and innovation into her music. She is known for her unique storytelling and all her extraordinary qualities made her Folk Musician of the Year in 2010. She has won several prizes for her work such as The Norwegian Grammy for Folk Music in 2007, The Vossajazz Prize in 2005 and The Rolf Gammleng Prize in 2014. Sigrid Moldestad is one of Norway’s most praised folk music artists and has released 6 solo albums since 2007. She performs in solo, trio and band constellations and has an A-team of fellow musicians such as Sigbjørn Apeland (harmonium, piano), Jørgen Sandvik (guitars, banjo, mandolin), Anders Bitustøyl (bass), Anders Hall (fiddles/viola), Roald Kaldestad (guitars, mandolin), Kåre Opheim (drums) and Anders Røine (langeleik, guitars, jewshapr). In addition to performing with her own band she also collaborates with other bands like Spindel and Karl Seglem Band.
