Biography
The ability to never repeat the same path, while still presenting a consistent and relatable take on the mall emo genre is a main goal that Mighty Tortuga strives for. Filling the void from what Mall Emo has been lacking in the current “emo revival.” The band’s upcoming EP release on Heading East Records, “The Plague Inside Your Head,” was recorded and produced by Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, The Color Fred) and features five tracks of introspective and well crafted emo/ alt-indie anthems comparable to leaders of their respective genres: Mayday Parade, Bad Suns, and Pinegrove. Their new single “Let Me Down” starts with a commanding octave blast of guitars that leads to the full band punching a wall of sound. Immediately following, the subdued vocal line, “Ash and sand are all that’s left / relics of the days you kept / you’re always downwind from disappointment,” are a true and honest take of a fallen relationship, that emos of all ages can relate to in a moment of self reflection and admittance. “The Plague Inside Your Head'' is set to hit stores on June 8, 2023. Vinyl and merch pre-orders are available at MightyTortuga.com, as well as tickets to the band’s Spring Tour of New England.
