Biography
James Sayer is a pianist, saxophone, guitarist, singer-songwriter from London, UK. His fascination and love of music began at a very young age when he learnt all things rhythm & blues and rock n roll from his dads music collection of artists such as Billy Joel, Elton John, Jerry Lee Lewis and later also finding a love of soul artists such as Michael McDonald, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison and Earth, Wind and Fire. James moved to London in 2012 where he began performing almost every night in piano bars, clubs and pubs and getting spotted by the likes of Tom Jones whilst holding down a residency at the world famous American Bar at The Savoy hotel. Later in 2015, James went on a U.S. tour with, BBC Radio 1 breakthrough act Ruen Brothers. They supported George Ezra, played Coachella, and recorded with legendary producer Rick Rubin at Shangri La Studios, Malibu. James finished his debut track ‘Taking Back My Love’ in January 2016. The track was immediately picked up and made ‘Track of the Week’ by BBC 3 Counties. In February 2016 ‘Taking Back My Love’ was playlisted on NPO 2FM in Holland, Sublime FM and Veronica. In 2017, James achieved his first BBC Radio 2 airplay with his single Sweet Baby Jane which was also made Track of the week on BBC Introducing. This was followed by heavy support for his follow up single Givin' it All For Free on BBC Radio 6 in 2018. Post covid saw the release of single 'Cherry' and his debut album is due for release in late 2023.
