Biography
Wielding an acoustic guitar and soulful vocals, Noel Nderitu is a breath of fresh air to the evolving African music scene. His first introduction to the world as a solo artist came in the form of an 8-track EP titled 'My Kind Of Music', released in the last quarter of 2013. As a multi-instrumentalist (Voice, keyboards, guitar and bass), he has a certain edge when writing, one he describes as a tricky one to balance. 'I have learnt not to have selfish conversations. Musicians tend to want to display their vocabulary at the expense of alienating their audience. I'm slowly getting the balance between musicality and relatability'. Fusing R&B, afro-soul and gospel sounds into his music, Noel released his full length record titled 'The Bridge', on May 22nd, 2017. It debuted at #1 on the iTunes Kenya charts. Noel followed this up with the release of 'Undugu', a self-produced 5-track EP in collaboration with rapper Rigga released on May 1st ,2018. 2019 brought with it another EP release, 'The Love Sessions EP' - showing Noel's versatility as an artist and producer (Released March 4th, 2019). His latest album is 'City On A Hill', released October 1st 2021, has already garnered an Afrima Award nomination for the single 'Enough'. The album also features a collaboration with UK's CalledOut Music. Noel has performed in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America.
